Man accused in little boy's death
Prosecutors say Sherrick Washington brutally beat a five-year-old boy to death

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A five-year-old boy is dead and his accused killer now charged in his death. Police say Sherrick Washington threw the little boy around an apartment, causing his death.

Prosecutors say Washington brutally beat a five-year-old boy to death. He's charged with capital murder and appeared in court Thursday morning.

The 26-year-old is in jail without bond. Investigators this is not his first brush with the law. They say he was out of jail on bond for a theft charge at the time of the murder.

The victim, Amarie Daniels, 5, is Washington's girlfriend's son. According to court documents, Washington threw Daniels against the wall, refrigerator and furniture and the floor, and the boy later died from those injuries.

Prosecutors say the boy's mother originally told authorities the five-year-old had claimed he was beaten by boys in his neighborhood, but she later came forward to say Washington had beaten him - enraged that she was still in contact with her ex, who is the boy's father.
