Man arrested after allegedly shattering glass at Sharpstown Mall
Within minutes of arriving, police had a man in custody who they say threw the rocks at the Burlington Coat Factory

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A man is in custody after allegedly breaking the windows of a store in Sharpstown Mall with rocks Thursday afternoon.

It happened at around 12:45pm at the Burlington Coat Factory in the mall. According to police, a 38-year-old man came into the store and threatened employees.

"He refused to leave, made threats toward them, then he motioned into his pocket as if he may have a weapon, and told them to stay back from them or they would maybe be harmed," said HPD Sgt. Steven Hendry.

He left, but then reportedly came back and started throwing rocks at the store, breaking the windows there.

"Manager said, 'Get low and go,"' said one employee. "We got low and we went."

Police were called and, within minutes of arriving, an off-duty Harris County deputy had the suspect in custody.

He's expected to be charged with criminal mischief.
