LIBERTY, TX -- A Liberty woman is facing charges of Abandoning and Endangering Children, a second-degree felony, after her two young children reportedly were found alone on the balcony of her apartment in the direct sunlight on Monday, Aug. 24.

Liberty Police Department officers were called to the apartment of Casey Trine, 21, of Liberty, in reference to possible abandoned children. Upon arrival, officers determined that there were two small children crying and screaming from an upstairs apartment balcony, according to a statement from Det. Jennifer Bowles, spokesperson for the police department.

"Officers attempted to make contact with the parent of the children by knocking on the door. After a short few minutes, officers made forced entry into the apartment and found the two young children alone on the balcony in the direct sunlight. The children had obviously been there for a while," said Bowles.
