LIBERTY COUNTY, TX (KTRK) -- People in Liberty County who suffered flood damage to their homes are encouraged to call the county office of emergency management.

Floodwaters from the Trinity River still surround homes. Right now, the river remains stable and officials hope it will begin to recede in the coming days.

A Red Cross Shelter is open to residents at 318 San Jacinto Street in Liberty.

Liberty County has not received a presidential disaster declaration, and it won't happen until it reaches the damage threshold of $ 269,289. To help the county reach that number, FEMA at 800-621-3362 and register.
