HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Houston police are investigating an officer-involved shooting in southwest Houston.

It happened just after 2am in the 6400 block of Hillcroft at Sands Point.

Police say the area is known for drugs, and the two officers were there as part of a drug initiative. The officers heard gunshots, and bystanders pointed the officers to a back alley behind Principe Azul Nightclub.

When the officers went into the alley, they spotted a white Chevy Impala speeding at them with a club security guard running along the driver's side, pointing a gun.

At that point, police say a man in passenger side of the Impala opened fire. Officers saw the flash and fired back, fearing for their safety. No one was hit.

The white Impala pulled over on Gulfton a few blocks away, and both men were taken into custody.

Houston police investigators identified the two officers as M. Falcone, who has been on the force for two years, and L. Salamanca, a five year veteran of HPD.

The investigation of the shooting is still ongoing.
