HPD: 1 dead in red light runner wreck in southwest Houston

HOUSTON -- Houston police are trying to determine if alcohol played a role in a deadly car crash in southwest Houston early this morning.

It happened around 12:30am this morning along the Southwest Freeway at Fountain View.

Officers say that's where two drivers ran a red light, leading to the crash.

The driver on the feeder was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

One passenger in the other car was killed.

Both drivers involved are being tested for alcohol.
