Texans playoff scenario
Ilona Carson explains what has to happen for the Texans to win the AFC South.

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- So the Texans didn't get any help from the Bengals on Monday Night Football, but not to worry. The odds for them to move on into the playoffs as AFC South champs are still quite high.

Here are the scenarios.

If the Texans beat Jacksonville on Sunday - no matter what else happens -- they're in.

If the Colts lose to Tennessee Sunday - again, no matter what else happens - they're in.

If the Texans lose and the Colts win, it goes to the strength of victory tiebreaker and the strength of schedule tiebreaker.

So if that happens, the Texans are in the playoffs with wins or ties by any one of the following - Cincinnati, New England, New York Jets and San Diego.

However, if all of those teams lose, it goes to the next tiebreaker -- strength of schedule.

The Texans would clinch on that tiebreaker if Kansas City wins or ties and Baltimore wins or ties, as long as both teams don't tie.

Of course, we all know the Texans will bring home the division title by beating Jacksonville Sunday, but it's nice to know all the different ways the team can get to the playoffs.
