Houston soldier dies in cliff diving accident near Ft. Hood

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A cliff diving accident claims the life of a Houston soldier.

Brenton Blume, 21, died Sunday night while with friends at Lake Belton near Fort Hood.

Blume reportedly jumped off a ledge into 27 feet of water, briefly resurfaced and then went under. It took rescuers two hours to find his body.

Blume was a combat engineer stationed at Fort Hood. He received multiple awards for his service during operation enduring freedom.
