Hostage situation in north Harris Co. ends with suspect in custody

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Authorities have a man in custody following a brief hostage situation in north Harris County.

It happened at the Jam Smoke Shop in the 500 block of Barren Springs.

When Harris County Sheriff's Office deputies arrived, they found a male outside the shop holding a woman at gunpoint. When the suspect saw deputies, he ran inside the shop. There were about five people inside the business at the time.

After some negotiations, the people inside came out. The suspect finally came out and was taken into custody without incident.
