HOCKLEY, TX (KTRK) -- Law enforcement vehicles surrounded a home in northwest Harris County after an early morning home invasion.

Harris County Deputies were called to a home in the 23000 block of Botkins Road around 4:30am Friday. Investigators say the family was having breakfast when an armed suspect opened the door and entered the home. Deputies say the suspect was armed with a long rifle. The woman inside the home begged for her life and the lives of her grandchildren.

A member of the family grabbed a gun and exchanged gunfire with the suspect. The intruder was hit and killed. No family members were injured.

A second suspect who was also at the home ran off into a wooded area and has not been captured.
