HOUSTON -- A Harris County sheriff's deputy was injured in a crash while heading to an area where officials were chasing a suspected car thief.
The sheriff's office says that the accident happened early Thursday morning.
The deputy and his K-9 partner were headed to the chase area to help in case the suspect driving a stolen car decided to leave the vehicle and run away.
When a vehicle pulled out from a side street, the deputy swerved to avoid it. The deputy's car then veered across a grassy area and slammed into a power pole. The car flipped on its side and hit a few trees.
The deputy's arm was broken and shoulder injured. The dog was taken to a veterinarian but was not hurt.
