Grocery store shooting in Barrett Station leaves one person dead

BARRETT STATION, TX (KTRK) -- Two men were shot during an argument at a corner store in Barrett Station this afternoon, and we've learned one of those men, Javed Nizamani, who is 36 or 37, has died, a relative tells Eyewitness News.

The shooting happened at Barrett Grocery store, located on Crosby and Lynchburg Road and Cypress.

One of the men in the argument was shot in the lower back, and the other was hit in the stomach. Nizamani died at the hospital. The other man's condition is good at this hour.

Sheriff's deputies say they are searching for a third person involved in the argument ran away from the store. He is described as a black man in a black T-shirt and jean shorts.

In the minutes after the shooting, investigators at the scene ran to a white Dodge Charger about a block away with their guns drawn. A woman was handcuffed and a baby was taken from the car's front seat. It's unclear at this time whether any of these situations are connected.

Two Crosby Independent School District schools were lockdown after the shooting, but it is now lifted, according to Crosby ISD.
