Friends remember teen killed in accidental shooting
Ezra Ryan Jackson, 16, was shot and killed at a gas station while hanging out with his friends

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Family and friends gathered Thursday night to remember a 16-year-old boy who was killed in an accidental shooting outside a southwest Houston gas station.

Ezra Ryan Jackson died Friday night after he was shot outside a Shell gas station in the 11200 block of Fondren.

Houston homicide investigators say Jackson was driving a Jeep with four friends when they stopped for gas at the station. During that stop, police say Jesse L. Davis, 17, was handling a gun when it went off and hit Jackson.

Jackson got out of the Jeep and collapsed, according to police. He was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The shooting is still hard to believe for many of Jackson's family and friends.

"He was a good kid. And he enlightened everybody's life that he came in contact with. In fact, they were all good kids," Jackson's mother, Dana Jackson, said, "and I'm just so happy they thought enough of my son to do this for him."

Davis, as well as another teen, are charged in connection to Jackson's death.
