Former peace officer, minister charged with child sex assault
A man who formerly worked as a peace officer and a minister has been arrested after allegedly sexually assaulting a young family member in 2000.

CONROE, Texas (KTRK) -- A former minister has been charged with a felony after allegedly sexually assaulting a young family member.

According the Montgomery County District Attorney, 45-year-old James Charles Patrick sexually abused the then-10-year-old girl in 2000.

Authorities say Patrick admitted to the alleged conduct when the victim's mother confronted him during a therapy session in 2016.

Patrick worked for the Montgomery County Precinct 2 Constable's Office, the Willis Police Department and the Montgomery County Precinct 1 Constable's Office from 1996 until 2012, when he left law enforcement to become a minister.

At one point, Patrick worked as a school resource officer for Willis ISD.
