Firefighters battle blaze on Hazard Street
Some quick-thinking firefighters arrived to a house fire in southwest Houston before anyone was able to call 911.

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Houston firefighters helped stop a house fire from spreading to nearby homes early this morning.

A engine company, headed back from yesterday's massive four-alarm blaze in the Galleria area, spotted smoke off the Southwest Freeway around 3am.

Officials said firefighters went to investigate the situation and found a single family home fully engulfed at the corner of South Boulevard and Hazard Street in the Boulevard Oaks neighborhood.

Neighbors said no one even called the fire into 911. They woke up to firefighters already battling the blaze.

"I just woke up, my bedroom's right across the street. All I saw was flames, firemen yelling and it was really scary," says neighbor Nicole Heller. "I immediately woke everyone up and we went downstairs and started watching it. Flames like 50 feet high. It was just terrifying."

Fortunately, firefighters said the home appeared vacant. There are no injuries to report.
