EXCLUSIVE: Man describes pulling man from fiery crash
Ricky Mofitt tells ABC13 the man he saved begged him to save his cousin who was trapped in the burning car

HARRIS COUNTY, TX (KTRK) -- A bystander says he had zero time to think as he saved a man from a fiery car crash on Beaumont Highway overnight.

Ricky Moffett told Eyewitness News he and his nephew pulled the man from the burning Dodge sedan with just seconds to spare, but sadly, a second man did not make it out alive.

The good Samaritan had just left work when he saw the aftermath of the violent crash on Highway 90 near Van Hut Lane.

Investigators believe the two men were intoxicated when their car crashed into a pole, flipped and then caught fire in a ditch.

You can tell by the charred remains of the vehicle that this was a very bad fire.

The delivery driver hailed a hero struggled to keep his composure as he described what happened.

The man who was pulled from the vehicle had a broken leg, Moffett said. His cousin next to him was already covered in flames by the time they got the man out.

"He just kept saying, 'Please get my cousin, please get my cousin,'" Moffett said, fighting back tears.

"My prayers go out to him and his family. I want them to know I did everything I could to at least get him out."

Moffett said they saw the wife of one of the victims with a newborn, running up to the vehicle.
