Former Magnolia High School volleyball coach Terri Johnson is under investigation by the Texas Education Agency's disciplinary unit for improper conduct with a student, The Courier has learned.

Johnson voluntarily surrendered her Texas Educator Certificate, for both teaching and coaching, on June 10. The TEA said the surrender is "permanent without the opportunity for reapplication."

Johnson waived a right to a formal TEA hearing by signing the voluntary surrender, and she also has no right to seek removal or judicial review of her decision.

Johnson stepped down as the Magnolia coach sometime before June 8, when an advertisement indicated the position was open just a few weeks before volleyball teams take the court for summer practice.
