Elderly woman hit and killed in front of food bank
Police say an elderly woman was hit and killed while waiting in line at a food bank on Monday morning.

STAFFORD, TX (KTRK) -- Police say an elderly woman was killed after she was struck by a car while waiting in line outside of a food bank.

The incident happened just before 11am at the Fort Bend Human Needs Ministry. ABC13 has learned that a line outside the facility had formed as more than 200 people were waiting to sign up for holiday food baskets.

A family member identified the victim as Blanca Garcia, a mother of five.

A second woman was also injured, but is expected to survive.

At this point, the incident appears to have been accidental. Police say the driver failed to stop while pulling into a parking space, hitting several people. No charges have been filed.

The driver of the car was taken to a local hospital for unspecified stress-related issues.
