Elderly woman hit by SUV
An elderly woman crossing the street in north Houston was hit by an SUV. Deborah Wrigley reports

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- An elderly woman crossing a street to get to a Metro rail station was hit by an SUV in north Houston this morning.

Houston police say the woman in her late 70s was pinned under a Ford Explorer when emergency personnel arrived at Cavalcade and Fulton around 9:30am. Emergency crews removed her from under the vehicle. She was conscious and breathing well when she was placed into an ambulance. She is expected to recover. The extent of her injuries is unknown at this time.

We've learned the female driver of the Ford Explorer is her late 60s. She was not issued a citation because according to police the pedestrian traffic light had changed when the woman was struck.

The investigation into the accident is ongoing at the scene.
