Driver dead after running red light in northwest Harris County, authorities say

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- The driver of a pickup truck is dead after running a red light, according to authorities in northwest Harris County.

The wreck happened around 2:15am on Breen and West Montgomery.

A car hit the truck while it was making a left turn. The driver of the pickup died at the scene. The driver of the car was taken to the hospital in stable condition.

Deputies do not believe he was driving drunk. However, it is not clear if the truck driver was impaired.

Harris County Sheriff's Office Deputy M. Dunn said, "We're unsure of alcohol is in play. Therefore this accident is still under investigation until further conclusions can be made."

There were several witnesses to the crash.
