(KTRK)

A DPS trooper's vehicle was hit in an accident Friday morning in southeast Houston.

Investigators say the truck had the right-of-way as it attempted to turn left out of a gas station and on to Genoa Red Bluff. The tanker portion of the truck was straddling both eastbound lanes of oncoming traffic, but because of heavy fog, neither the truck driver nor the trooper could see each other.

DPS says seconds before the collision, the officer ducked. The impact of the crash flattened the cab portion of his car.

The trooper is OK. We're hearing from troopers on scene that no one else was hurt.

DPS saying that fog was the primary contributing factor to this accident. They say that the truck driver has not been cited and is not facing any charges at this time. The truck is owned by the US Lime Company. According to the US Department of Transportation, the company does not appear to have any glaring driving violations.
