HOUSTON (KTRK) -- At least one person was arrested and more than a dozen vehicles were towed overnight after DPS broke up an allaged street racing event in northwest Houston.

Officers said more than 100 cars and trucks were found when they arrived on the scene at Wagg Way Rd., at Jackrabbit Rd., near State Highway 290 and Highway 6.

A mother with two young kids were among the participants and watchers, DPS said. One person was taken into custody on an outstanding warrant.

Seventeen vehicles were also towed after several drivers attempted to evade police by driving through dirt and private roads before being stopped by officers.

A resident near the one-way road alerted a friend with DPS in San Antonio about the street racing event, who tipped off local troopers to where the racers could be found.
