Gunshots rang out around 2:30 a.m. in a neighborhood off Tidwell and the East Beltway.
Someone called 911 after he happened to see three people breaking into his car, according to investigators.
When the deputy constables arrived at the home, we're told the suspects started driving away. They didn't get very far, however.
Investigators said the suspects were in a stolen truck, and they sped away for six blocks before they found themselves cornered.
Six deputies blocked the truck in at a cul-de-sac. Investigators said the man in the truck floored it, smashing into a Precinct 3 SUV.

"At which time, deputies began firing at the suspect vehicle, striking the driver in the shoulder," Pct. 3 Deputy Landon McDonald said. "They were found to be with two other passengers inside, who were unharmed."
The man who was shot in the shoulder was taken to the hospital.
A woman could be seen in handcuffs inside one patrol vehicle. A man in red shorts was also in cuffs in the back of another cruiser. Investigators are talking with both people right now.
As for the Precinct 3 deputy constable who shot the driver, their name was not given to us. We are still trying to figure out who it was, as there may have been more than one deputy who fired.
At the scene, a gray truck could be seen smashed into that SUV. There are bullet holes in both the passenger and driver side doors. The constable's SUV did not appear to have any bullet holes.
Our crews counted at least 12 evidence markers on the ground around the vehicles.
