Bullet hits deputy at suicide scene
A deputy was hit by a ricochet bullet responding to a call at a home in northwest Harris County.

A Precinct 4 deputy constable, responding to a suicide call in northwest Harris County today, was shot by a ricochet bullet, according to authorities.

It all started around 9am today when a man threatened to kill himself in the backyard of his home in the 12900 block of Meadow Run Court at Queens Retreat Drive. Precinct 4 deputies tried to use a Taser to subdue him, but that's when the man fired a shot that ricocheted off the house and hit a deputy in the leg.

As the officers ran from the man, he turned the gun on himself and shot himself. He died at the scene.

The deputy is being evaluated.

Detectives and a district attorney's office representative are still on the scene.
