Deputies: Chase suspect tried to run over officer
A deputy constable had a close call this morning near the North Freeway, according to Harris County Precinct 4 Constables Office

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- We're following breaking news on the North Freeway, where investigators say a suspect tried to run over a deputy constable.

Harris County Precinct 4 says a deputy constable was dispatched to Sunbelt Rentals, where they found a van backed up to a wooded area of the equipment rental business.

As the deputy approached the vehicle, the suspect tried to run over him.

The deputy constable attempted to use a Taser on the suspect, but was unable to hit him.

Constable Herman said the deputy fired his weapon, hitting the van.

The suspect led deputies in a chase down I-45. They were able to stop the van and arrest the suspect a short time later.

The suspect is now charged with felony evading.

Herman said this is a very close call for the deputy constable, who was fortunately not injured.
