Two suspects appeared to be seconds away from robbing a day care full of sleeping children but staff locked the doors in the nick of time.

An attempted armed robbery at a northside daycare has the director both fuming and thankful an employee was able to stop it.

Robin Brown took to social media Thursday imploring people to "put these animals behind bars!" A daycare security camera captured an image of the two men. They were dressed in black. One was masked, the other had a gun.

It was around 12:30am, Wednesday at the Stay & Play Day Care on Aldine Bender when the men tried to rush the door. It is a 24-hour facility. Two staff members and 7 children were inside. The children were sleeping.

As an employee was letting out a mother out with her baby, Brown says the men jumped out of a 4-door Lincoln Town Car and attempted to push their way in. The employee was able to out-muscle them, lock the door and get to safety. A short time later, after noticing the camera, the men left.

Brown did file a report with the Harris County Sheriff's Office but she's hoping someone recognizes the men and calls authorities.

"It was a scary situation. Thank goodness it was handled properly or it could have been a tragic situation," she said. "We want them stopped.

No one was hurt and the incident didn't wake any of the sleeping children.
