Crooks smash into east Houston gas station

HOUSTON -- Six crooks smashed up a gas station in east Houston with a pick up truck, police say.

It happened just after 3:00am at a Conoco station in the 1300 Block of Federal Road.

The clerk who was working at the time said the door was unlocked. When he spotted some men out the window with masks on, the clerk ran to the door and locked it.

The suspects then used a two tone tan and red pickup truck to smash their way into the front door.

When they saw the clerk calling 911, all of the suspects ran off. The driver of the pickup truck also took off. They all got away with nothing.

The vehicle does match the description of another pick up involved in a different robbery off Highway 290 in northwest Houston. HPD is investigating both cases.
