Fight between couple escalates into deadly shooting in N. Houston

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Police are working to determine who fatally shot a man in north Houston overnight.

The shooting happened around 7:30pm at a home on Gammon Drive at Mercedes Lane.

Officers say a fight broke out between a man and a woman in a dating relationship. One of those people left the home only to return a short time later with a group of friends.

At that point, several people drew guns and opened fire. Police say multiple shots were fired during the exchange.

A man suffered a gunshot wound to the head and leg. He was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital Northwest where he was declared dead.

Investigators say four witnesses were taken downtown for questioning. No suspects are in custody.
