Students mourn Concordia Lutheran High School senior who died following their prom
TOMBALL, Texas (KTRK) -- Concordia Lutheran High School is mourning the loss of one of their students, who died at a private event following this weekend's prom.
Senior Madison Barksdale died Sunday morning, school officials said.
According to Concordia's website, the school held its prom Saturday at the Northgate Country Club in Houston. Head of School Joel R. Bode told ABC13 that Barksdale attended a private function hours after prom concluded and passed away.
"Madi was a bright, smiling friend to many students and will be remembered by many," Concordia said in a Facebook post.
In a letter to parents, the school asked for prayers and thoughts for Madison's family.
"The Concordia family has never had to deal with the loss of a current student, so we are especially hard hit with this situation. Some of Madison's schoolmates were with her at the time, and they need your extra thoughts and prayers like the rest of the student body, faculty and staff," the school said.
Grief counselors and pastors were at the school Monday morning.
An official cause of death has not been released.
