Fundraiser held in CA for Cassidy Stay
A community in California came together to raise money for Cassidy Stay, the lone survivor of that family shooting

Nearly two weeks after their murders, the Stay family continues to be on the hearts and minds of their family and friends.

Last night, those who knew them before they moved to Houston held a vigil in California.

We've seen an out pour of support for the stay family in spring and the surrounding Houston area and the arms of support and fundraising have stretched all the way to the west coast.

In fact, a community in California came together yesterday to raise money for Cassidy Stay, the lone survivor of that family shooting.

Steve and Katie say grew up in San Marcos. They were very active in their church and community there so those who knew them best wanted to celebrate the lives of that couple and their four children killed in their Spring home authorities say at the hands of a relative.

So wearing Cassidy Stay's favorite color, friends and family gathered at a Chick-Fil-A and released balloons to honor Cassidy. The restaurant donated 20-percent of its sales over a seven hour period, to help care for Cassidy.

"Because of her grandparents and a lot of her aunts and uncles are alive today," said Cassidy's teacher, Karen Hardin. "We definitely have lost some really special people but they are in a better place and we're here for Cassidy."

We've learned Cassidy will be raised by her aunt and uncle.

Meanwhile, accused shooter Ronald Haskell, who was divorced from Cassidy's aunt, is facing multiple capital murder charges.

An official memorial page for the family has been set up on Facebook, and those who want to donate to the family can do so on GoFundMe.com.
