Authorities say during a baggage exam officers encountered "Wafer Rich Vanilla Cookies", "Tortrix Barbacoa Chips" and "Tortrix Limon Chips." When they opened the food items, they found small bundles of cocaine wrapped inside. CBP says the drugs they found are valued at more than $60,000.
CBP officers arrested German Adalberto Lancerio Bejarano, 50, a Guatemalan citizen, and turned him over to Houston Police Department. He is awaiting state prosecution for allegedly smuggling the illicit narcotic.
CBP says an officer knew something did not seem right. So, he took Bejeranp aside for another check.
Supervisor David Patino said, "We are trained to see trends and things that don't fit in."
CBP says Bejarano was headed to New York.
Last August, CBP discovered drugs hidden inside tamales stashed in someone's belongings.
