Child dies after pool rescue in NW Harris County

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Authorities say the 9-year-old boy who was pulled from the bottom of a pool during an end of the year party in northwest Harris County has died.

We brought you this story as breaking news on Friday. Authorities say about 20 children were in the pool near Red Oak Lane at Westbrook Oaks Way when the incident occurred.

The child was taken by Life Flight helicopter to Memorial Hermann Hospital, but sadly he didn't make it.

It's still not clear exactly what happened to the little boy for him to end up at the bottom of the pool. Detectives are still investigating the case to determine if there might be any criminal charges resulting from this incident.
