HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A man was transported to the hospital after he slammed his car into a building in east Houston.

The accident happened just after midnight as the driver was traveling southbound on Lockwood Drive near Collingsworth.

Investigators say the driver was unable to negotiate a curve, went over two curbs and slammed his Honda Accord into the unoccupied building. The vehicle then burst into flames.

A wrecker driver was able to pull the man out of the vehicle to a safe location across the street from the scene.

The man was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire before it did much damage to the building.
