HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Deputies say a little boy was rushed to the hospital after he was hit by a car outside an HISD-run preschool in north Harris County.

The accident happened around 3pm outside the Farias Early Childhood Center in the 500 block of East Rittenhouse.

Authorities say the father picked up the boy from the center and the two were walking through the parking lot when a truck struck the child.

The driver of that truck stayed at the scene. She tells Eyewitness News that she heard a thud followed by screaming.

"I feel bad. I feel bad because I put myself in their shoes. I'm a mother. The good thing is I need to be in check now," the driver told abc13. "Hopefully it's nothing serious."

The child was transported via ambulance to the hospital. The full extent of his injuries remains unknown.

So far, no arrests have been made.
