Boy, 5, shot in the face, rushed to hospital in NW Harris County
HARRIS COUNTY (KTRK) -- A 5-year-old boy was shot in the face Tuesday night inside a northwest Harris County home.
Deputies and homicide investigators from the Harris County Sheriff's Office are at the home in the 9700 block of Shady Tree Lane in the Willow Wood neighborhood.
A neighbor tells Eyewitness News he heard a gunshot followed by screaming. The boy was then carried to a vehicle and taken to a nearby hospital. From there, he was flown by LifeFlight to the Medical Center, according to a deputy on scene.
Deputies responded the home around 6:15pm after hospital officials reported the shooting. A gun was found inside the home, according to authorities.
Investigators are looking into whether the boy found the gun and accidentally shot himself. Deputies say they have spoken to his parents.
The boy is in critical condition. No other details have been released.
