Bomb squad blows up suspicious device at Webster apartments

A suspicious device brought out the bomb squad to a Webster apartment complex.

Just before 9am Tuesday, Webster police were called to the Arium at Edgewater apartment complex located in the 200 blk of Water Street. A maintenance worker found a suspicious package on a sidewalk in the complex.

The Bay Area Regional Bomb Squad was contacted and found two metal boxes taped with a cell phone and watch attached. Residents on the south side of the apartment complex were evacuated.

At approximately 1pm, bomb experts determined the boxes were non-threatening. The incident is under investigation.
