Body of man swept by flood waters in Clear Lake area has been found

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- The search for a man swept away by flood waters in the Clear Lake area has ended, with the tragic discovery of his body.

Nurul Alam Chowdhury, 36, was on his way home from work early Wednesday, as heavy rains were pounding southeast Houston. The Harris County Precinct 8 Constable's Office believes Chowdhury and his vehicle were swept away by flood waters in a ditch along Highway 3 near Clear Lake City Boulevard. A deputy constable and another driver tried to pull Chowdhury to safety, but the current was too fast.

Deputies and volunteers with Texas Equusearch have been canvassing the area along the ditch line by foot and by four wheeler. Earlier in the day Chowdhury's vehicle was pulled from the water at Highway 3 north of Clear Lake City Boulevard, and just before 4pm, Texas Equusearch confirms his body was located downstream in Horse Pen Bayou at Space Center Boulevard.
