Body found inside La Marque home after fire

LA MARQUE. TX (KTRK) -- Police said the body of a male was found inside a home fire in La Marque Friday.

The La Marque Fire Department responded to a house fire on the 1400 block of Newman Road. After successfully putting out the fire, they said they found a body inside.

The Galveston County Medical Examiner's office took custody of the body and said identification of the body and autopsy are pending.

Authorities said the incident has not been confirmed as homicide because they're awaiting the cause of death and new information about the case.
