HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Search crews trolled miles of the murky Buffalo Bayou searching for a missing 36-year-old as friends and family waited for news.

Jason Boyle went missing after a Friday night kayak trip with his girlfriend and dog. They made it out OK after tipping over, but Boyle never resurfaced. The search came to a sad ending around 11am Monday when Texas Equusearch found a man believed to be Boyle in the River Oaks area. Friends say he had made the trip many times before on Buffalo Bayou.

"He is a good friend. He started a couple of businesses. He was doing really well. I hadn't seen him in a while. It's really sad," said Kyle Galbraith.

He operated a kayaking tour company and says the water can be very unpredictable no matter how many times you've been there.

"It might look like it's moving slow but underneath it's rapids. It's tough to judge unless you've been doing it a really long time and I'm sure he knew but going at night it's harder to tell and unfortunately accidents happen."

The Harris County M.E. must still make positive identification that the body recovered is Boyle.
