Authorities: Boy found in Fort Bend Co. pond has died
Authorities say the 4-year-old boy was transported to the hospital with CPR in progress after he was pulled from a Rosenberg-area pond

ROSENBERG, TX (KTRK) -- Authorities in Fort Bend County say a four-year-old boy has died after he was pulled from a pond in the Rosenberg area.

The pond is behind a house and pasture in the 1300 block of Cumings. Investigators were called out there just before 2:30pm after a family member discovered the boy floating in the water.

"The four-year-old boy was out with a family member in the pasture with the animals, he wanted to come back up to the residence; the family member sent him back up and they didn't realize that the boy never made it," said Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office Sgt. John Moore. "The family got him out and initiated CPR."

Authorities say they think the child was in the water for about a half-hour before he was found. He was transported to the OakBend Medical Center in Richmond with CPR still in progress. At around 3:45pm, we learned the child passed away.

"It's a continuing investigation right now but right now it appears to be an unfortunate accident," Moore said.
