WAXAHACHIE, TX -- Two people have been airlifted to a hospital after an explosion destroyed a home in Waxahachie.

City spokeswoman Amy Hollywood says two adults who were in the house were airlifted to a Dallas hospital after the explosion Monday morning. She didn't have details on their conditions. She says a handful of people were treated for minor injuries.

She says it's not yet known what caused the explosion.

Atmos Energy said Monday that its crews were at the scene to determine if gas was involved. The company was conducting leak surveys.

The American Red Cross says that in addition to the destroyed home and two with major damage, 10 others with minor damage were also evacuated. People living in the homes with minor damage can return once officials say it's safe.
