Charles Tapley, award-winning Houston architect, dead at 84

HOUSTON -- Charles Tapley, the man who designed a number of familiar Houston landmarks including Tranquility Park, has died at 84.

Tapley was the recipient of the Jefferson Award and a lifetime achievement award in 2012 from the Texas Architect Society.

He was a professor at both Rice University and the University of Houston.
