Kingwood area women learn what to expect in retirement

HOUSTON -- Transitioning into retirement can be a confusing ordeal for some.

The importance of planning falls especially heavy on the shoulders of women, who statistically are inclined toward longer life spans than men.

Edward Jones financial advisor, Diana Van Horn, spoke at the Kingwood Library about the issues women might face in retirement, and how to prevent and handle financial crisis Wednesday, July 29.

"Women tend to outlive their husbands, usually about 50 percent of the time and usually by a decade on average," Van Horn said. "So, for 10 years, you might be on your own."
