Gunmen open fire on car with kids inside, one man hospitalized

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- One person is in the hospital after someone opened fire on a car with two kids inside.

It happened around midnight at the Shadow Tree Apartments in the 9400 block of the West Sam Houston Parkway.

Police say a man, woman and two small children pulled into the apartment complex when three men walked up to the vehicle. One of those men then opened fire, striking the male who was sitting in one of the rear seats.

The driver then took off and flagged down a Precinct Five deputy constable at Beltway 8 and Bellaire. The victim was then rushed to the hospital and is expected to survive.

No one else in the car got hurt.

Police are still looking for the gunmen. They are unsure why the gunmen opened fire on the vehicle.
