16-year-old killed in ATV crash in Southeast Texas

BROOKELAND, TX -- A 16-year-old girl has died after she lost control of an all-terrain vehicle in Southeast Texas and it flipped over.

The Texas Department of Public Safety says Stevie Ray Hergert of Nederland was pronounced dead at the scene following the crash at about 3 a.m. Saturday in Newton County, about 10 miles northwest of Brookeland. The crash happened at the intersection of two roads.

Authorities say the girl was ejected and suffered head fatal head injuries.

The crash is still under investigation.
