Houston police are on the scene of a deadly shooting of a 43-year-old woman in northwest Houston.

The shooting happened this morning around 5:30am in the 7500 block of Long Point near Woodvine.

HPD investigator Ramon Servantes said, "Upon (police) arrival, they did find one Hispanic female lying in (the road). She had suffered one gunshot wound (in the upper chest). Having spoken to some witnesses they are telling us that they did hear some people and because the individual does not speak English, he didn't know if they were arguing or not, but they were outside the immediate area of that particular building when he heard from inside his apartment one single gunshot. ... By the time the officers arrived, the individuals fled and including the suspect. We do have some leads at this time. They are very few but there some individuals we want to speak to who are not here that live in the area of that particular building. We believe this particular individual was drinking some beer."

No one is in police custody. Police are now interviewing witnesses at the scene.

Houston police are asking anyone with information in this case to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
