Pedestrian struck by METRO rail train in southeast Houston

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A pedestrian has been struck by a METRO light rail train in southeast Houston, near NRG Stadium.

The accident happened shortly before 1pm on Fannin near Holly Hall.

According to METRO authorities, a man crossed the tracks illegally at Fannin between Holly Hall and Naomi. With his back turned to the train, the man walked directly in front of the train and was struck.

The victim was walking around at the scene, but was transported to Ben Taub Hospital by ambulance as a precaution.

The train resumed operations after 23 minutes.

Two other accidents involving pedestrians and the light rail train occurred in the same area in June.
