HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Houston Residents are called on to vote online in first-ever #BookBattle to bring 100,000 books to local kids in need.

JetBlue and Random House Children's Books have partnered for the Soar with Reading program. Houston is one of five finalists in the competition, and your votes will determine the winner. The city is up against Detroit, Fort Lauderdale, Los Angeles, and New York, and we are currently in third place. The city that receives the most online votes by Aug. 31 will receive 100,000 children books.

Voting takes one click and can be done on the Soar With Reading website.

In 2011, JetBlue launched Soar with Reading, a program designed to encourage kids' imaginations to take flight through reading and get books into the hands of kids that need them most. Since its inception, JetBlue and their partners have donated over $1.25 million worth of books to kids in need.

The #BookBattle is in celebration of the 5th anniversary of the Soar with Reading program.
