HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A sex offender with ties to Houston was arrested hours after the Texas Department of Public Safety announced his addition to the Texas Most Wanted Sex Offenders list.

Michael Dwayne Cox, 46, was arrested Monday at a Houston home following a tip received through the Texas Crime Stoppers hot line. Cox was wanted on a charge of failure to register as a sex offender.

Cox was convicted in 1994 of aggravated sexual assault of a child in connection to a Dallas County case involving a girl who was just nine years old. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison and was required to register as a sex offender after his release.

Authorities say the tipster is eligible to receive up to a $3,000 reward.
