Toddler dies after run over by rig at South Texas truck stop

SAN ANTONIO, TX -- Investigators say a toddler has died after being run over by an 18-wheeler in the parking lot of a truck stop near San Antonio.

The Bexar County Sheriff's Office says the accident happened late Wednesday night as the boy ran through the lot.

Witnesses told authorities that a family from Laredo was in an 18-wheeler that stopped to get fuel. The family's 1-year-old boy ran through the parking lot toward the store.

Authorities say the driver of another big rig pulling out of a fueling bay did not see the boy and ran over him.

The toddler was dead at the scene. His name wasn't immediately released.

The sheriff's office says no charges are expected to be filed in the accident.
